A learning plan is traditionally a structured document outlining the learning and development objectives for an individual, team or organisation over a specified period.
Within a Learning Management System (LMS), a learning plan consists of a series of learning materials presented in a predefined sequence, which the learner progresses through from start to finish – for example, a series of videos and online articles on GDPR regulations.
The learning plan helps identify what needs to be learned, how the learning will be delivered and which resources are necessary to achieve the desired outcomes.
While similar to an e-learning course, a learning plan typically utilises existing materials that can also be accessed individually for performance support – something not usually possible with traditional e-learning modules.
