Performance Support is an integrated system that provides learners – typically employees, but also partners or customers – with immediate, individualised access to the information, software, guidance and tools they need to perform their tasks with minimal assistance or intervention from others.
This definition highlights the core elements of performance support: accessibility, personalization and the integration of necessary resources directly into the work environment.
Within Learning & Development (L&D), performance support refers specifically to tools and systems designed to help employees perform their jobs efficiently by providing the required information and resources exactly when they need them.
The concept is closely linked to just-in-time training, where learning and support are available within the workflow rather than as separate, formal training programs.
